New Effington Elementary
This is a picture of us standing in front of our school. Our school was built in 1990. In 1989 the people of New Effington and Claire City decided to become part of the Sisseton School District. The building houses New Effington and Claire City's K-6 grade students. |
This picture is of Aiesha's great-great-grandmother. She came to the area by train from Wisconsin when she was a young girl. She married Harry Layton in 1898. They settled on a farm in our area and raised their children. |
The museum in New Effington is on Odin Avenue. It used to be a hospital, and then housed the Masons. It was built in 1914 and became the musuem for the town in 1986.

This is Dacotah Bank in New Effington. It is on the corner of Main Street. The bank was built in 1913. It has gone through many name changes. |
The New Effington Post Office is also on Main Street. This is where people in the town of New Effington send and get their mail. It has been here since July 12, 1892.

Ceroll Grocery is the only grocery store in New Effington. The building was built in July 1999, after Evenson Grocery burned down in June, 1999.
